About Our Founder

I'm Emma Reynolds. I graduated in English from the University of Birmingham in 2022, interned at the Royal Shakespeare Company that summer, and worked briefly for a record label before I began tutoring. For over four years, I have taught English Literature at GCSE and A Level, and English Language at GCSE.

I am currently studying on the Faber Academy's competitive six-month advanced novel-writing course, where leading figures in publishing are teaching me to sharpen my craft. What I learn there goes straight into my lessons: writing makes up half of each GCSE English Language paper, and my students benefit from a tutor who practises what she teaches.

Outside teaching, I sing in a semi-professional choir and play the cello. Music has enriched both my personal and professional life, and one of the most influential teachers I have had was my cello teacher. He broke each skill into its parts and gave me a method for practising each one. The process sometimes felt slow, but it lifted my playing far beyond the standard I thought I could reach. Because I trusted him, I practised with purpose, and his methods, together with his infectious enthusiasm, deepened my love of the instrument. He taught me the heart of good teaching: break every skill into achievable steps.

Over the years, I have refined my systems. I have built hundreds of essay toolkits on predicted questions, an automated system that records each lesson and creates a summary visible to students and parents, and a booking system that makes scheduling and rearranging lessons simple. I have revised every resource several times in response to student results and feedback, so your child learns from materials that real students have tested and improved. Above all, I am kind and patient, and I work hard to build a meaningful academic relationship with every student.

“You were more than just a tutor to me. You believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself, and that gave me strength and confidence.” - Hafsa, GCSE

“It is difficult to imagine finding a more dedicated, enthusiastic, and supportive tutor than Emma. Her commitment to her students is truly exceptional.” - Anna, A Level

“My daughter seemed very relaxed and had a good relationship with Emma and felt very comfortable in the lessons. Emma was great at providing feedback to me along the way.” Johnathan, parent to GCSE student
